This guide will show you where to find every Essence Stone in Atlas Fallen.

Here you can find the locations of every Essence Stone in Atlas Fallen. Essence Stones are unlockable abilities for your character. This guide will also include the locations of every Formula. These are recipes used to craft new Essence Stones by using certain materials. Collecting 25 Essence Stones will get you the “Stone Collection” trophy / achievement.

CALADRIAS: The Forbidden Lands
MISSABLE COLLECTIBLES: After defeating the Marauder boss during the story, DO NOT open the Knight’s Gate. Doing this will automatically fail all Side Quests & Errands you have not completed. Some of these will have collectibles as rewards. So make sure you get all collectibles related to side quests & errands before advancing to the next region!
Lost Temper. Obtained automatically after defeating the first Cloaker in the game. You will come across this enemy in the cave at the start of this region.
Thick Skin. Soon after the previous Essence Stone you will cross a rock over a crevice. The chest containing the Essence is in plain sight on the other side.
Hurling Hammer. Obtained automatically from a broken chest just after the previous Essence Stone.
Crystalline Knuckle. Obtained by looting the stone after defeating the Tailguarder during the “Reforging The Gauntlet” story quest.
Formula I. Obtained for finishing the “Protecting The Village” side quest. You can start this side quest by talking to Old Seven in the village.
Counter Attack. Obtained automatically during the “Building Bridges” side quest. You unlock this side quest after finishing the “Protecting The Village” side quest.
Formula VI. Obtained for finishing the “A Lost Soul” side quest. You can start this side quest by talking to the Worried Mother in the village.
Disruptive Throw. Obtained automatically during the “Honing Your Skills” side quest. You can start this side quest by talking to Sarge in the desert.
Unstable Generation. Looted from the “Scrimmur” Elite Foe. If you don’t loot it, you can buy it from the Travelling Vendor.
Formula V & Essence Stone (Tormented Wrath). Obtained for finishing the “The Watcher’s Fury” side quest. You can start this quest by talking to the Traveling Merchant. You can find this merchant by looking for the kite in the sky. You will get the “Tormented Wrath” Essence Stone by looting the Scrimmur that you fight in this mission (if you alread did the “Building Bridges” side quest you will have also done the part where you have to fight the Schimmur and this quest will auto-complete).
Idol’s Fortune. Found in the chest next to the first story related Anvil.
Sinful Bargain. Obtained by defeating the “Gashur” Elite Foe. If you don’t loot the Essence Stone you can buy it from the Travelling Vendor.
Active Formula V. Found in the chest on the island.
Active Formula IV. Found in the chest in the camp.
Momentum Field. Finish the Sealing Totem found in the camp. Then, follow the final light to the chest with the Essence Stone inside.
Rampaging Wrath. Looted from the Elite Foe. If you don’t loot the Essence Stone you can purchase it from the Travelling Vendor.
Restless Executioner. Found in the chest inside the small cave. You will only be able to access it if you have activated the Watchtower.
Swift Hive. Dig up the treasure under the stone arch near the watchtower to get the Essence Stone. You will only be able to get the treasure if you have the full “Near A Watchtower” treasure map. Treasure map locations can be found in THIS GUIDE.
Piercing Hook. First, activate the Sealing Totem found below the tent on the hill in the desert. Then, follow the lights and raise the platform to climb the cliff. After finishing the Sealing Totem, follow the final light to the Essence Stone.
Formula I. Found in the chest near the Anvil.
Shattering Fortune. Found in the chest guarded by enemies.
Formula IX. Found in the chest to the north of the Wildlife Habitat.
Evasive Burst. Found on the square roof just outside the western exit of the village.
Formula II. Activate the Sealing Totem on top of the tower. Follow the light after finishing the Sealing Totem to get the Formula from the treasure.
Formula X. Found in a buried chest near the entrance to the keep.
Essence Stone (Stronghold Strike). Found in the chest to the left of the Anvil.
Active Formula II. Go through the tunnel to the west of the keep (same place that you got the 3rd weapon during the story). In here, talk to the researcher to get the Formula.
Formula VIII. Found in a chest at the top of the southwest tower of the keep.
Hurling Lance & Crystalliced Rage. Can be purchased from the Travelling Vendor. This vendor will move around the map. To find him, look for the kite in the sky. He will be standing below it.
Active Formula III & Active Formula IV. Can be purchased from the Village Vendor.
Formula VII. Once you have all 3 fragments of the “The Great View” treasure map, raise the platform below the mountain to the west of the village to get to the platform above. Here, dig up the treasure to get the formula. You can find the locations of all map fragments in THIS GUIDE.
Formula II. To get this Formula you will first need to get the “Hidden On The Cliffs” treasure map (can be purchased from the Village Vendor). Then, dig up the treasure on the side of the cliff below the tower.
MONSALAR: Bastengar’s Underground
Active Formula VIII. Obtained automatically during the “From Beliefs To Trust” story quest.
Shared Suffering. Go to the sunken palace and finish the Sealing Stone to open the gate on the bottom floor covered with blue runes. Once you go through the gate you will automatically start the “The Forgotten Shrine” side quest. During this side quest you will get 3 Lore Items from 3 chests in the area and an Essence stone once you examine the altar at the end of the area.
Formula XII. Obtained by finishing the “A Mother’s Request” side quest.
Piercing Parry. Obtained by talking to the knight that can be found just before the cave area that connects the north part of the region to the south.
Golden Guardian. Found in the cave that connects the south and north part of the region.
Active Formula VI. Dig up the treasure under the statue near the well. You will only be able to do this if you have the “In The Market” treasure map (obtained from the “Fallen Knights” side quest).
Momentum Guard. In the chest guarded by the large enemy.
Avid Generation. Defeat and loot the Elite Foe to get the Essence Stone.
Formula XI. From the gryffin statues, triple dash across to the statues on the other side. Here, enter the room on the right to find the Formula inside a chest to the left of the Anvil.
Formula XIII. In the chest near the dragon statue.
Active Formula VII. Can be purchased from the Knight Vendor.
Decelerating Parry & Healing Strike. Can be purchased from the Travelling Vendor once you get to this region. To find him, look out for the kite.
MONSALAR: Wildlands
This region has multiple missable essence stones. Follow this guide and read the notes to not miss any.
Active Formula XV. At one point in the main story you will have to talk to 3 spiral workers. The first one you talk to will give you the formula.
Reckless Cure. Obtained from the “Dromur” Elite Foe. You will encounter this foe during the “The City Of The Sun” story quest.
Blooming Calamity. Obtained automatically during the “The City Of The Sun” story quest when digging up the claw in the mines.
Missable! Last Resort. Obtained for finishing the “Tithe Road Secrets” side quest. Make sure you do this side quest before talking to the queen during the main story.
Missable! Death Mark. Talk to Splinter to get the Essence Stone. You will have to do this after the story sends you to the mining village and before you meet the queen.
Missable! Sand Barrier. After upgrading the “Crush” ability, you will get an optional objective. Talk to Tracker to activate the “Securing The MIning Village” side quest. Finish this quest to get the Essence Stone. Make sure you finish this quest before destroying the chains.
Fair Fight. Obtained automatically during the story after cutting the chains.
Endmost Wrath. You will obtained this Essence Stone during the “A New Home” side quest. This can be started by going to the end of the alley in Lithesta and talking to Goggles. The Essence can be looted from the Elite Foe you fight during this side quest.
Erratic Hive & Dispelling Blast. These 2 Essence Stones can be obtained by finishing the “Hunter Or Hunted?” side quest from the Head Huntress. The “Erratic Hive” Essence Stone is obtained by looting the Elite Foe.
Formula XVI. Obtained for finishing the “Poetic Muse” side quest. This side quest can be found on the southern edge of the map.
Active Formula XI. First, find the Travelling Merchant by looking for the kite in the sky. Talk to him to get the “Through The Haze” side quest. Finish the quest to get the formula.
Formula XXIII. Found in a chest in a small ruin in the desert.
Active Formula XII. Found in the red chest in the corner of the building.
Arduous Generation. Loot the Elite Foe in the south desert to get the Essence Stone.
Formula XIX. Found on top of Spider Rock.
Reckless Wrath. Loot the essence stone from the Veilur Elite Foe, found to the south of the main city.
Formula XVIII. Found in a red chest in the upper part of the left tower above the entrance to the city.
Active Formula IX. From the main gates of the city, turn left, go to the top of the stairs and exit through the arch on your left that leads out to a wall. The chest will be in front of you.
Formula XIV. Found in a buried chest as you enter the southwest backstreets in the city.
Active Formula XIII. Found in a buried chest near the mural on the path to the right of the city entrance.
Formula XXI. Enter the spire and go right to climb the stairs to the top. The Formula can be found in the chest at the top.
Saving Grace. Found in a chest near the fork in the road.
Formula XV. In a chest under the tower to the east of the temple.
Formula XVII. Finish the Sealing Totem under Spider Rock to get the formula.
Essence Stone (Exalted Ascension). In the chest defended by enemies.
Idol’s Greed. Defeat and loot the Elite Foe to the south of the watchtower to get the Essence.
Formula XX. Activate the forgotten path to the north of the watchtower and follow it to another forgotten path. Activate it and follow the path to a cave a chest containing the formula (only after clearing the watchtower).
Essence Stone (Blood Lust). Found in a chest guarded by enemies to the west of the watchtower.
Active Formula X. Can be purchased from the Hunter Vendor.
Formula XXV. Sold by the vendor in the camp to the southeast of the city (only after talking to the queen).
Active Formula XIV. Can be purchased from the vendor in the small mining village.
Formula XXIV. Sold by the Priest Estate Vendor. She can be found in the small temple to the west of the city if you have not yet got to the story quest where you speak with the queen and in the upper part of the city if you have.
Active Formula XVI. Sold by the vendor in the backstreets of the city.
Essence Stone (Force Field). Sold by the travelling merchant (look for the kite to find him).
Formula XXII. Obtained by finding the “A Lofty Cave” treasure. The treasure can be found by going to the west of where you first enter this region and raising the platform. Use it to get to the area above you. Then, go east until you see a cave on your left containing the buried chest.
Essence Stone (Wearying Veil). Walk around the western desert (area shown below) until you trigger the Watcher’s Fury event. Here, defeat every enemy and loot the final one to get the Essence Stone.
Essence Stone (Idol’s Thrill). Walk around the southern desert (area shown below) until you trigger the "Watcher’s Fury event. Defeat the enemies and loot the final one to get the Essence Stone.
THE BLACK ALMS: Citadel
Active Formula XIX. Inside a buried chest in the area just north of the camp at the start.
Active Formula XXI. Found in the chest near the tower in the first camp.
Active Formula XVIII. Finish the Forgotten Path to the south of the camp to get the formula.
Active Formula XX. Found in a red chest at the bottom of the hill.
Essence Stone (Quickening Venom). You can loot this essence stone from the Elite Foe near the watchtower.
Active Formula XVII. Found in a chest in the tree just before the sandy area with the watchtower (you will need to clear the watchtower to get this chest).
Sacrificial Generation. Loot the Elite Foe found on the southern most island of the island group to the east of the region.
Lone Fight. Found in a chest guarded by enemies in the desert.
Formula XXVIII. Talk to the guard in the desert ruin to start the “Defending The Outpost” side quest. Finish it to get the formula.
Lucky Streak. Clear the Sealing Totem near the ruins to get the Essence Stone in the chest at the end.
Formula XXVIII. Found in the chest at the top of the tower on the east side of the wall.
Essence Stone (Lucky Stun). In the chest on the other side of the quick sand.
Active Formula XXII: Found in a red chest to the north of the gate.
Perilous Parry. Looted from the Elite Foe at the end of the path to the north of the gate.
Formula XXVI. Can be purchased from the Camp Vendor.
Paralysing Wound. Bought from the Travelling Merchant.
Draining Generation. Walk around the south desert until you trigger the “Watcher’s Fury” event. Loot the final enemy after the fight to get this Essence.
