To get the Rusty Cryptic Vessel you will first have to find all 3 Krat Supply boxes and give them to Polendina at the hotel. Here are the locations.
Krat Supply Box. In Chapter 4 > St. Frangelico Cathedral Chapel follow the main path until you reach the top of the cathedral where you fight an elite enemy (just past the 2 gaps and spinning wheels). After defeating the elite enemy, go through the gate to the right. Here you will find the chest with the expansion on your right.
Sturdy Krat Supply Box. Found just above the ladder that you use as a shortcut to the boss from the first Stargazer in Chapter 7 > Grand Exhibition Gallery.
Special Krat Supply Box. Go to Chapter 9 > Collapsed Street and follow the main path until you go around the side of a circular building on the rooftops. After this, you will see a lower roof below you with an enemy. Drop down, turn around and go to the end to find the chest with the expansion on the platform in front of you.
Once you have all 3 of them you will be able to purchase the vessel from Polendina.
After showing the Vessel to Venigni to decipher it, go to Chapter 8 > Barren Swamp Bridge. You will now find that the previously locked gate is now open. Go through the gate to enter Hermit’s Cave. To find the treasure just get to the other end of the cave and open the safe.
