To get the Float spell to glide you will have to first play the game to at least chapter 11 to unlock the Visoria region. Once you have done this, go to Inner Visoria and then go down the path to the south. Here you will find the Lilac Fount. Go here to get the Float Spell. You will now be able to hold the X button to glide until your stamina runs out.
