Manuscripts are files about the lore of the world. There are 31 in total, and none are missable. Keep in mind that some only spawn after finishing certain story events, so come back later if you can't find one. By the end of the game, you should be able to find all but 3, which only spawn during the epilogue scene after finishing the True Ending. Even those 3 are not missable: if you miss them, you can get them by defeating the True Ending boss again.
Below you can find all Manuscripts in the same order as they appear in the in-game menu on the top floor of the orphanage. That way you can tell which ones you are missing.
Ancient Text. Age of Safekeeping. Found in the Huther Castle. Go through the door to the right of the stairs to find it in the basement.
A Guide to Holy Places. Age of Reconstruction. Found in the Southern Caves. Head inside and down the stairs, then make your way to the right side. Climb the ladder to find the Manuscript.
A Guide to the Temple of Trials. Age of Safekeeping. Found in the Temple of Trials building.
The Laws of Hitoyori. Age of Budding. Found in the building in the northeastern corner of the village.
Hitoyori's Beginnings. Age of Budding. Found in the building to the east of the village.
History of the Myu, Vol. I. Age of Reconstruction. Found in Mount Phoenix after the boss fight.
History of the Myu, Vol II. Age of Budding. Found in Mount Phoenix. Make your way through the dungeon until you get to Sublevel One. Here, go down the ladder to the south and make your way across the platforms to find the manuscript at the end.
The Tale of the Grey Hero. Age of Safekeeping. Found in Mount Phoenix as soon as you get to the Third Level. You can only access this area once you progress towards the True Ending.
One Historian's Journal. Age of Safekeeping. Found in Huther Castle’s basement. Take the door to the right of the stairs.
An Epistle from the Hero King. Age of Safekeeping. Found in the Rainbow Lotus. To the left of the chest where you get the Moonmirror after the story-related boss at the end of the Dungeon.
History of the Kingdom of Huther, Vol. I. Age of Safekeeping. Found in the building in the bottom left corner of Huther.
History of the Kingdom of Huther, Vol. II. Age of Safekeeping. Found in Huther Castle. As soon as you enter, go left to find it in the dining area.
History of the Kingdom of Huther, Vol. III. Age of Safekeeping. Found on the top floor of the building on the right side of Huther.
A Traveler's Notes on the Marsh. Age of Reconstruction. Found in the Rainbow Lotus. From the start, drop down into the water and go under the little wooden bridge on your left. Then make your way up the ramp and continue on this path until you reach Sublevel One. You find the Manuscript to the south.
A Traveler's Notes on the Wood. Age of Safekeeping. Found in the Grandtree. In the first room, head right using the jump pads and continue until you reach the Second Level. Then continue to find the Manuscript in the long grass after a few more jump pads.
A Traveler's Notes on the Ice. Age of Magic. Found in Dragonpillar. From the start, head right and keep using the stairs until you reach the First Level, where you must use the Vacuum Fairy Power to move the red orb into the blue hole, opening the gate. Past the gate, go down the stairs to the next level. The Manuscript can be found on one of the platforms at the bottom of this room.
A Traveler's Notes on the Fire. Age of Magic. Found in Mount Phoenix. Inside, head left and go down the stairs. Then head right past the enemies and up the next set of stairs. On the floor above, head right and down the ladder to find the Manuscript at the bottom.
A Traveler's Notes on the Sand. Age of Reconstruction. Found in the Geared Ruins. From the start, head straight and up the stairs. Then in the next room, head right and cross the spinning gears to find the Manuscript on the right side of the room.
A Traveler's Notes on the Door. Age of Magic. Found next to the Doorway of Time on the beach.
Kaifried's Journal. Age of Reconstruction. Return to the boss arena in Nothern Tower.
Ikarus's Memoirs. Age of Magic. On the top floor of the manor in Weyzn. This one will only spawn after getting the Mystic Seal in the post-game for the True Ending.
Log of a Former Forthewor Researcher. Age of Safekeeping. Found in the Northern Tower. Make your way through the dungeon until you reach a room filled with glass capsules on Sublevel One, where you find the Manuscript. To access this dungeon you first have to advance through the post-game towards the True Ending.
Research Records of Calotesia's Ancestor. Age of Reconstruction. In the small house in the middle of Littlehope.
Fausta's Research Report. Age of Reconstruction. In the small house in the northeastern corner of Littlehope.
Diona's Medical Record. Age of Reconstruction. Found in the house in the bottom right corner of Littlehope.
Report on Newly Discovered Epigraph. Age of Safekeeping. Found in the Northern Tower, in the corner of the room where you use the little lifts to fight the four bosses before facing the final boss of the game.
Beast Tribe Research Log. Age of Reconstruction. Found in the destroyed house.
Gogyo's Diary. This one can only be obtained during the short scene where you walk around Hurthe after defeating the True Final boss. It can be found on the top floor of the house on the right side of town. If you miss this, you will have to defeat the true final boss again.
Marnie's Diary. This one can only be obtained during the short scene where you walk around Hurthe after defeating the True Final boss. It can be found in the basement of the castle. If you miss this, you will have to defeat the true final boss again.
Diona's Diary. This one can only be obtained during the short scene where you walk around Hurthe after defeating the True Final boss. It can be found in the room on the left side in the castle. If you miss this, you will have to defeat the true final boss again.
Memorandum of Permilleshrooms. Age of Safekeeping. Found in the Eastern Caves. You get the key to unlock this cave during the main story. Head south through the cave to find the Manuscript in plain sight.
