Valor Mortis All Amber Locations
This guide will show you where to find all Ambers in Valor Mortis.
Ambers are essentially rings. You can equip them in the Level Up menu, and you unlock more slots the more you level up.
There are 29 different Ambers, and 15 of them can be upgraded twice by picking up copies of them. Only one of each of the 29 is needed for the 
Ambersmith trophy, so you don't need to find the copies and upgrade them if you don't want to.
None are missable, and they can all be obtained after finishing the story.
This guide follows the in-game menu order, making it easy to see what you are missing. Some of them require metroidvania skills to reach, but all of those skills are obtained automatically during the main story.
Wound that Heals (1/3)
Vale of Wrath > Wolfbane Field.
From the lantern, head through the small village in front of you until you get to the area with water on the other side of the village (the area where you have to destroy one of the growth nodes during the story). Here, head into the cave on the left, and once you reach the tall enemy with a flamethrower inside, head right into the room with the green hue. Use the grappling point and head up the slope on the left, behind the elite enemy. In the next area, look for a corpse down the gap at the far end of the cave and pick up the cellar key next to it.
After that, return to the small village next to the lantern and use the key to open the locked door of the large house on the left. This door takes you to the cellar, where you can find the amber in a chest.
Wound that Heals (2/3)
Vale of Wrath > Poisoned Camp.
Backtrack out of the camp and down the path on the left until you reach a fork in the path. Take the left path up towards the house and defeat the tall elite enemy to get the amber.
Wound that Heals (3/3)
Cursed Hollow > Deep Water.
From the lantern, backtrack and you will soon see an elite Cannonhead enemy in the middle of the main path. Defeat it to get the amber.
Tomorrow's Promise (1/3)
Fallen Village > Marketplace.
Reward for finishing the "Lullaby" side quest.
From the lantern, head towards the grappling point that takes you to the burning section of the village. Before the grappling point, enter the house on the left and go through to the backyard, where you can find the Weathered Key.
After that, backtrack along the main path through the carriage where you get the shotgun, and then through the village on the right (don't take the shortcut). Eventually you will see a broken wooden path over some water in front of you. Jump over the gap, use the key to enter the house and pick up the doll. Return it to the crib in the house where you found the key to finish the side quest and get the amber.
Tomorrow's Promise (2/3)
Reward for finishing the "Till Death" side quest.
The quest starts when you pick up the item in the arena where you defeat the Bride boss in Cursed Hollow.
To finish it, head to the church at the end of Cursed Hollow (the one you go through to advance the story, where you get the Claymore). Go through it, and once you come out the other side, stick to the right path and you will see a ribbon on a grave. Return it to the shrine in the boss arena to finish the quest and get the amber.
Tomorrow's Promise (3/3)
Fortress > Traverse.
Backtrack from the lantern, and in the underground area head right, then pull out the blue node on the wall and use it to swing across. Follow this path until it splits into 3. Here, go left and climb the ladder to reach an area with water and a lever. Press the lever and quickly wall run across to the column in the middle. Here, use Stasis on the gears to stop the door from shutting, then swing across and through the door. The chest containing the amber is on your right in this room. Careful, it explodes when you open it.
Dominatus (1/3)
Valley of Ashes > Military Camp.
Enter the camp right next to the lantern and go through it until you reach the path that goes up the hill on the other side. Here, head left to find the amber in a chest inside the tent.
Dominatus (2/3)
Caverns > Last Sunlight.
From the lantern, head down the original main path (don't use any of the shortcuts near the lantern) and you will soon reach an area with campfires and enemies. In this area, stick to the left side and you will find a large camp with lots of enemies around it. Defeat the enemy with red eyes to get the amber.
Dominatus (3/3)
The Outskirts > Breach.
From the lantern, turn around and drop down to the chest.
Bountiful Harvest (1/3)
Reward for finishing "The Scarecrow" side quest.
You can start this side quest by going to the Fallen Village > Fields lantern and heading down the main story path on the right (towards the barn where the pig runs out in front of you). Just before you reach the barn, you will see a scarecrow in the field to your right. Examine it, and you will then have to find 2 items.
The first item can be found at the foot of the large tree directly behind the scarecrow.
The second item can be found on the top floor of the large house on the other side of the shortcut next to the Fields lantern. To get inside, follow the main story path until you go through the field with loads of exploding horses on the ground. At the end, before heading right, look left and you will see the back door of the house. Head inside and pick up the letter from the top floor.
Return the items to the scarecrow, and finally you will have to follow the crows. To finish the quest, go through the field of exploding horses again and head right at the end. In the next field you will see a barn on your right. Head inside, go up to the top floor and watch the memory to finish the quest and get the amber.
Bountiful Harvest (2/3)
Reward for finishing "The Deserter" side quest around Vale of Wrath.
To finish this side quest, you must find the 3 parts of a figurine. They are all found in bee boxes around the Vale of Wrath area. Here are the locations.
The first one can be found by starting at Vale of Wrath > Under the Bridge. Cross the lower section of the bridge and continue until the path splits. Take the right path and continue by using the grappling points. You will soon reach a clearing with bee boxes and an Eternal Guardist. Defeat him, use the key to open the house and pick up the note (this part may not be needed to finish the side quest). Then head back outside and interact with the bee box that does not have a red X on it to get the first part.
For the second one, go to Vale of Wrath > Poisoned Camp and backtrack to the entrance. Head out and left, and you will soon see some bee boxes on your left. Again, interact with the one with no red X.
The final part can be found by going to Vale of Wrath > Under the Bridge and using the ladder shortcut right next to the lantern (if you don't have it, you will have to follow the story path through the Poisoned Camp and cross the large bridge). At the top, head through the small building where you needed to use Stasis to open the gates during the story. Then, as soon as you come out the other side, go through the house on your right to find the bee boxes on the other side. Like before, interact with the one with no red X to finish the side quest and get the amber.
Bountiful Harvest (3/3)
City of Orphans > Shamble Street.
Head through the large gate shortcut right next to the lantern, and once you get to the waterfront, head left. Here, go up the ramp on your left, past the tall enemies and through the burning area with the spikes. You will then emerge into the main plaza. Here, go through the arch on your right to find an elite enemy. Defeat it to get the amber.
Limit Break
Caverns > Mine Cart Route.
From the lantern, backtrack into the previous area with all the rope bridges. Here, cross the first bridge and then the one on your right. On the other side, look left and grapple across. As soon as you land, go right to find the chest under the ramp heading up.
Equivalent Exchange
Vale of Wrath > Wolfbane Field.
From the lantern, head through the small village in front of you until you get to the area with water on the other side of the village (the area where you have to destroy one of the growth nodes during the story). Butcher's Carnage (1/3)
Vale of Wrath > Under the Bridge.
Reward for finishing the "In the Name of Art" side quest.
From the lantern, cross the bridge and follow the path until it splits. Take the path that goes up the hill on the left until you see a house on your right. Head around the right side of it and shoot the node through the window.
Now head through the main door and go upstairs. Interact with the painting and shoot the node on the hill. Then head back outside and around the right side of the house, next to where you shot the first node through the window, and you will see a new path on the right heading up the hill. At the top, pick up the basement key near the memory.
Now return to the house and use the key on the door on the bottom floor to access the basement. Get to the end of the basement and read the note to finish the quest and get the amber.
Butcher's Carnage (2/3)
Vale of Wrath > Ship Graveyard.
From the lantern, backtrack by grappling across the broken bridge. On the other side, head right over the poisoned ground (you will need the Shield Transmutation, which is obtained late in the main story). In the area on the other side, head past the long building on your left. At the end, drop down to the area under the building, turn around and climb the ladder to get inside. At the top, exit right and wall run to the chest on your left.
Butcher's Carnage (3/3)
The Outskirts > Harbour.
Right next to the lantern you will see a path covered with poison. Go down it (you will need the Shield Transmutation, which you get a little later in the main story). Once you come out the other side, head past the house and go right onto the large ship. Here, head left through the ship. Once you come out the other end, drop down to the lower deck and head inside, where you will find an elite enemy. Defeat him to get a key.
With the key, head back to the house you walked past at the end of the poison path and go inside. Head up to the top floor to find the amber in the chest.
Life Diverted (1/3)
Cursed Hollow > Village Church.
From the lantern, head through the shortcut right next to it that takes you directly to the open fields you used to get to the church (if you don't have it, follow the main story path until you reach the church). Then go straight ahead, heading slightly to the left. You will find the amber in a chest guarded by one of the Eternal Guardist elite enemies, behind a house surrounded by hay.
Life Diverted (2/3)
City of Orphans > Shamble Street.
From the lantern, jump through the hole in the building and then drop down the holes in the floor until you get to the bottom floor. Here, open the chest to get the amber.
Life Diverted (3/3)
Fortress > Traverse.
From the lantern, head back through the gate and go right into the area with the destroyed fountain. Here, look for an opening in the wall on the other side of the fountain, close to some red barrels. Head inside and burn down the growth on the right. The chest containing the amber is behind the large enemy inside.
Bottomless Well (1/3)
The Battlefields > Onslaught Arch.
Backtrack from the lantern by going along the side of the cliff. After swinging on the branch, burn the web in front of you to find the amber in a chest on the other side.
Bottomless Well (2/3)
Caverns > Last Sunlight.
Reward for finishing the "Homesick" side quest.
From the lantern, head down the original main path (don't use any of the shortcuts near the lantern) and you will see a campfire. To start the quest, pick up the letter on the box to the left.
Next, continue into the next area with enemies and look for a hole on the left side with some wood next to it. Drop down to reach an area with boats and water. Advance through this area until you defeat the double-headed enemy. Just after him you will see a boat. Pick up the letter from it and return to the campfire where the quest started to finish it and get the amber.
Bottomless Well (3/3)
City of Orphans > Tribunal Square.
From the lantern, follow the main story path by going down the main street to the left of the guillotine plaza. At the end, head into the house on the right. Go through it and come out into the courtyard behind the house. Here, defeat the elite enemy to get the amber.
Potent Concoction (1/3)
Valley of Ashes > Quarry.
From the lantern, use the lever and jump onto the hanging crate. Continue until you get to the first enemies below you. Drop down to them and, instead of climbing up in front of you to continue, head right. At the end, go left to find a chest with the amber inside.
Potent Concoction (2/3)
Reward for helping the Mice during the "Laudanum" side quest.
First, talk to the old lady in The Outskirts area. She can be found in the house on your left as soon as you cross the broken bridge shortcut from the Island of Whispers lantern. Here, talk to her through the door of the building on your right to start the side quest.
Next, head around the left side of the house to the top of the stairs, talk to the children and Agree to help them.
Now you must find the bottle of laudanum. Travel to the Market Square lantern and use the shortcut to climb up to the house behind you (this is the house you go through to get to the lighthouse during the main story). Head inside on the top floor, and in the second room drop down the hole on your left, next to the metal fireplace. The bottle can be found in the room below. Take it back to the old lady, then rest at any lantern and the house will be open. Head upstairs and pick up the book on the floor to finish the quest and get the amber.
Potent Concoction (3/3)
Fortress > Ramparts.
Head up the stairs next to the lantern and look left to see a node. Shoot it, then go down the stairs next to the lantern and make your way to the wall where the node was. Here you will see a ladder. Climb it and make your way through the next few rooms. In the last one, look for a small hole you can crawl through. The chest containing the amber can be found in the room below, where you shoot the 2 nodes (they are not needed to get the amber). Watch out, the chest explodes.
Transmuted Persistence
The Battlefields > Onslaught Arch.
From the lantern, head into the open battlefield area. Here, continue on the main path until you go through a wagon that acts as a bridge. On the other side, look left and burn down the webs to find the amber in a chest behind them.
Lunatic's Grasp (1/3)
Caverns > Weeping Ledge.
From the lantern, continue on the main path (the lit cave on the left) until you go through a room with multiple sludge enemies. The chest in this room contains the amber.
Lunatic's Grasp (2/3)
The Outskirts > Lighthouse.
From the lantern, turn around and grapple across to the left. As soon as you land, don't enter the building: head around to the left instead. Then look for a boat you can jump onto on your left. From the boat, jump into the building on your left to find the chest with the amber inside.
Lunatic's Grasp (3/3)
University > Laboratory.
At the lantern you will see a path covered with poison. Drop down onto this path and turn around. The chest on your left contains the amber. Careful, it explodes when you open it.
Surplus (1/3)
Valley of Ashes > Military Camp.
Enter the camp next to the lantern and make your way through it until you see a path heading up the hill. Head up it and look out for a cave on your right. Go inside and shoot the lit lamp on the other side. This burns away the webs blocking the growth. Shoot the growth to clear a path on the left side of the cave that you can use to cross over to the other side. Once there, climb the ladder on the right and follow this path back outside, where you will find the amber in a chest.
Surplus (2/3)
Caverns > Old Mine.
From the lantern, use the ladder shortcut to get down to the mine tracks (if you don't have the shortcut, follow the main path and you will eventually reach them). After climbing down the second ladder onto the first tracks, turn around and take the path behind you to reach an optional area where you will have to use Stasis to get through. Close to the end of this area you will go through a multi-floored building. On the second floor, look right to find the chest with the amber inside.
Surplus (3/3)
The Outskirts > Island of Whispers.
From the lantern, use the tree trunk shortcut and then climb up the ladder into the barn on your right (this is the barn you come through before activating the shortcut). At the top of the ladder, take a few steps forward and drop down to the right. Then go under the path you just dropped down from into an area with a few enemies and a tree in the middle. The chest with the amber can be found on the left of this area.
Perfect Copy
Valley of Ashes > The Other Side.
Head down the path covered with poison right next to the lantern (you will need the Shield Transmutation from later in the story). Follow this path until you reach a corpse in the middle. Examine it and defeat the elite enemy. After that, head right and you will find the amber in a chest inside a tent.
Fire Breathing
Fortress > Main Gate.
From the lantern, turn around and backtrack to the poison-filled area. Here, defeat the elite enemy to get the amber.
Payback
University > Main Hall.
Head up the main stairs and through the shortcut behind the statue. Then go through the door on your right and use the lift to head up. At the top, go straight ahead, and in the large main corridor go left. This takes you to the circular room that you use to get outside onto the rooftops. Instead of climbing the ladder to head outside, climb down into the room below and defeat the elite enemy to get the amber.
Iron Grip
The Battlefields > Field Encampments.
From the lantern, turn around and drop down into the area below. As soon as you do, head left to find the amber in a chest.
Sleight of Hand
Valley of Ashes > Demolished Path.
Reward for finishing the "Unheard Farewell" side quest.
Start it by talking to the NPC in the large cart next to the lantern. Then travel to Valley of Ashes > The Climb, get on the wooden lift and get off halfway up (if it is your first time, the lift stops here anyway). As soon as you get off the lift, jump across to the cave on the left side and head inside. Defeat the enemy and pick up the documents. Return them to the NPC in the cart to finish the quest and get the amber.
Dilated Moment
Vale of Wrath > Ship Graveyard.
From the lantern, backtrack by grappling over the broken bridge. As soon as you land on the other side, drop down to the small path below on the left and open the chest.
Lucky Shot (1/3)
Caverns > Last Sunlight.
From the lantern, head down the original main path (don't use any of the shortcuts near the lantern) and you will soon reach an area with campfires and enemies. In this area, stick to the left side and look for a hole in the ground with some wood next to it. Drop down it to reach an area with water and boats. Advance through this area to the end and defeat the double-headed, grenade-throwing enemy guarding a chest. The amber is in the chest.
Lucky Shot (2/3)
Vale of Wrath > Poisoned Camp.
Head forward from the lantern and climb up to where all the enemies are shooting at you from. Head left along the wall and look for a chest behind the tent with the two large flamethrower enemies. The amber is inside. Just watch out, since the chest is also filled with bombs, so move out of the way after opening it.
Lucky Shot (3/3)
Fortress > Traverse.
Backtrack through the gate and head right. At the fountain, go left and immediately look out for a small hole in the wall on your left. Crouch and go through it, then follow this path to the chest with the amber inside.
Indestructible Shell (1/3)
Valley of Ashes > Guidepost.
Follow the main path until you reach the large enemy with two heads. Defeat it, then go over the wooden ramp to find the chest with the amber inside.
Indestructible Shell (2/3)
Cursed Hollow > Silent Cannons.
From the lantern, cross the floating platforms until you get to the small cave you go through on the other side. Before going through the cave, wall run along the wall on the right. This brings you to a small hut. Head around the right side of the hut to the area behind it to find the amber in a chest.
Indestructible Shell (3/3)
Fortress > Chapel.
From the lantern, head back into the room with the large cannon enemy. Here, go left and then into the small courtyard on your right to find a chest with the amber inside.
Sixth Sense
City of Orphans > Tribunal Square.
From the lantern, head left at the square and follow this path until you see some stairs heading down on your right. Go down them and climb the boxes, then make your way around the building on the narrow wooden planks. You will find the chest containing the amber at the end.
Silent Squeak
City of Orphans > Shamble Street.
Head through the gate shortcut next to the lantern and then up the stairs on your right. Climb up to the rooftops and cross the rope bridge on the other side. As soon as you get off the bridge, look right and interact with the hole. If you have defeated the enemies in the area below, you will be rewarded with the amber.
Duellist's Focus
The Battlefields > Onslaught Arch.
From the lantern, backtrack until you reach a fork in the path. Stick to the right path around the camp. You will then come to another fork where 2 enemies are. Here, take the left path and hit the growth on the wall with your pistol or rapier to destroy it. On the other side, defeat the mini boss and open the chest behind him.
Volatile End
Fallen Village > Fields.
From the lantern, go through the shortcut right next to it (if you don't have it, go right and through the barn), then continue by going left at the next shortcut and follow the main path. After going through the field with exploding horses, follow the path to the right and you will soon see a small barn on your right. The amber is in the chest inside.
Marksman's Bane
Valley of Ashes > Quarry.
Follow the main path until you are about to leave the quarry area, where you see the path leading up to the church. Here, head left, break the boxes and swing to the wooden beam. From here, make your way to the tower with the enemy on it to find the chest at the top.
Perfectionism (1/3)
Valley of Ashes > The Climb.
Ride the lift next to the lantern up to the top and then continue along the cliffside until you reach the part with enemies on the wooden structures under the large bridge. After this you will see a path leading up and to the right. Don't head up that path. Instead, look for another green path below that follows the cliff to the right. The chest containing the amber can be found here, guarded by one of the Eternal Guardists.
Perfectionism (2/3)
Caverns > Old Mine.
Follow the main path into the next room, where you use the lever to raise the crate and then your Stasis Transmutation to stop it halfway up (just like you did on your first visit to continue on the main path). Now stand on it and disable the Stasis by interacting with the cogs to ride the crate up. Jump off to the right and follow the corridor to find the amber in the chest behind the Eternal Guardist.
Perfectionism (3/3)
Vale of Wrath > Under the Bridge.
From the lantern, cross under the bridge and go through the small hut. Follow the path until it splits. Take the right path and follow it using the grappling points. You will then arrive at a small clearing with a house and an Eternal Guardist outside. Defeat him to get the key that opens the house. The chest inside contains the amber.
Glass Soldier (1/3)
Fallen Village > Orchard.
From the lantern, head up the hill into the boss arena. Here, climb up to the top floor of the house on the right and jump out the other side to find the amber in the chest below.

The Outskirts > Market Square.
From the lantern, look through the small window on the top floor of the building with the meat hanging outside and the pretzel above the door to see a node. Shoot it and head inside. In the room on the right there is now a box you can use to climb to the top floor. Here, defeat the elite enemy to get the amber.
Glass Soldier (3/3)
Fortress > Courtyard.
Head through the arch on the left of the courtyard (the main story path), then head left and defeat the red-eyed enemy at the end to get the amber.
Warrior's Fury (1/3)
Fallen Village > Marketplace.
From the lantern, head through the building on the right to get to the area with the bell tower in the middle. Here, head to the house at the opposite end of the area. Climb the ladder inside and jump into the top floor of the other house through the window. Once inside, find the chest on the balcony to your right. Make sure you jump to the chest, since the balcony breaks beneath you.
Warrior's Fury (2/3)
Cursed Hollow > Silent Cannons.
From the lantern, cross the floating platforms until you get to the small cave you go through on the other side. Before going through the cave, wall run along the wall on the right. This brings you to a small hut. From the hut, continue right until you see another building you can go through. Head through it and defeat the elite enemy on the other side to get the amber.
Warrior's Fury (3/3)
University > Lift Shaft.
Use the lift shortcut next to the lantern (if you don't have it, follow the main path: this shortcut is impossible to miss). At the bottom, take a few steps straight ahead and then go right. Head through the door and into the room with all the hound enemies. One of them is an elite. Defeat it to get the amber.
