ROADMAP
Intro
The Sinking City 2 is the second in the series, but this time around they have switched things up and it is now a Survival Horror game, and that is also reflected in the Trophy List.
This is basically an RE trophy list minus most of the annoying ones, plus one annoying one they added. So though the game has systems like the "Extras" menu, where you can spend in-game points you earn from challenges, you really only need a handful to purchase trophy-related stuff, and you will have more than enough points just by playing through the game. There are also no speedrunning related trophies (even though there are in-game speedrunning challenges). All of this would make you think one playthrough would be enough.
However, that is not quite the case. This game features an NG+ mode where 8 new codex appear that are required for the
"From Oblivion" trophy, which by itself is not bad since you can just skip pretty much everything else and concentrate on them. The problematic one is
"What Dreams Are Made Of". This trophy requires you to learn every Talent. To learn Talents you must collect Dream Essence, which is one of the many collectibles in the game. The annoyance is that there are only around 25 per playthrough and learning all Talents requires 60. So that means you will have to collect them all across 2 full playthroughs and then partially play through the game a third time.
Every other trophy apart from those 2 can be obtained in your first playthrough.
Step 1. 100% Playthrough.
Play through the game on any difficulty and follow our All Collectibles guide. This will cover everything: collectibles, puzzle solutions, miscellaneous trophies and even the key items. It will basically guide you through the game step-by-step. By doing this, you will have every trophy but two by the end of the playthrough. Just remember that everything is missable and you cannot return to the chapters or areas later. The game will let you return to most areas within the current chapter you are playing, so it's worth having a quick scroll over the map to see if you have any red areas left before leaving. If you miss anything, it will not carry over to NG+, and you will have to collect every one of that type of collectible again. Keep in mind that this guide also covers plenty of collectibles that aren't required for trophies, so if you're not going for 100% you can safely skip them. The ones you do need for trophies are the Radios, the E.R.C. (along with the Pens used to open them), the Dream Essence, and the Weapons.
The only thing you should be slightly careful with is spending your EP in the Extras menu. Luckily, the only trophy-related things you need from the shop are the 4 Talents for the
"What Dreams Are Made Of" trophy. These will only cost you 800 EP, which you will get without any problems just by playing through the game. Just make sure you don't go overboard, so purchase them ASAP or at least keep 800 EP set aside.
Step 2. New Game +.
After finishing the main story you will unlock Ex Oblivione Mode (NG+). You can start it through the main menu and then select which clear save you would like to take into NG+. The only thing that carries over is your Talent points.
During this playthrough, you will want to do two things:
- Pick up the 8 new Codex that only appear in NG+ for the
"From Oblivion" trophy. These are also included at the end of our All Collectibles guide. - Pick up all 25 Dream Essence again and spend them on unlocking Talents to work towards the
"What Dreams Are Made Of" trophy (you will still need to at least partially play through NG+2 to have enough to learn all Talents).
Step 3. Unlocking All Talens.
After finishing NG+ and collecting the 8 new Codex, you will only have the
"What Dreams Are Made Of" trophy left.
As mentioned before, for this trophy you must unlock every Talent in the Talents menu. For this you will need a total of 60 Dream Essence and to purchase the 4 large Talents from the Extras Shop in the main menu for a total of 800 EP.
At this point you will have more than enough EP for the 4 Talents from the Extras Shop (unless you went on a reckless shopping spree). However, even if you picked up every Dream Essence in your first 2 playthroughs, you will be sitting at around 50 total and will still be missing around 10. So once again, start another Ex Oblivione Mode (NG+) run and play through the game until you have enough Dream Essence to learn every Talent and get the final trophy.

Obtain the shotgun.
The shotgun can be obtained during Chapter 2 in the Saloon. This is the building next to the broken crane you must fix to move the whale. Head through the Safe Room inside to get behind the bar, where you will find the shotgun.
Obtain the submachine gun.
The submachine gun is found in the Generator Room in the basement of Devil's Reef Hotel during Chapter 2. It's hard to miss, since you must solve a puzzle in this room to advance the story.
Obtain the rifle.
You can obtain the rifle during Chapter 3. After using the Workbench in the Prosthetics Workshop to join the two halves of the Old Man's Face, use it to exit south, then head east and you will see the rifle in plain sight.
Obtain the grenade launcher.
You can find the grenade launcher during Chapter 4. After getting the second Leyden Jar, which lets you open double starfish doors, head to the Weighing Station north of the Market Floor and open the door. The grenade launcher will be in the next room.
Defeat three nightmares in the hospital.
During Chapter 3 you will encounter 3 large enemies called Nightmares. They are all on the main path and hard to miss, but defeating them is not mandatory, so make sure you don't run past them.
Nightmare #1. Found in the Inner Yard.
Nightmare #2. Found in the Maintenance Room.
Nightmare #3. Attacks you during the scene where you must defend Faye as she tries to destroy the barrier, after escaping from the Hospital near the end of the chapter.
Investigate the wall safe.
This trophy is obtained by opening the safe in Apartment 5, in the small block of apartments you visit after your first boat ride in Chapter 1. Use code 1908 to open it.
Investigate the church mystery.
During Chapter 2 you will visit a church. Here, pick up the Star Key from the corpse next to the locked lever you use to remove the blockage.
Next, unlock the door on the top floor of the church and pick up the trident.
Place the trident on top of the Obelisk north of the church, and spin the sections so they match the image below. Then wait until lightning strikes it 3 times before picking it up.
After this, take the trident back to its original spot on the top floor, then pick up the dagger from the person closest to the church altar and place it in the slot on the altar. This will take you down to the basement, where you will have to defeat an enemy.
Investigate the cursed press.
Obtained by solving the Cursed Press Puzzle in the Printing House in Chapter 2.
To solve this puzzle you must first find the 3 Printing Plates around the chapter. They can be found in:
1. The Mausoleum in the graveyard outside the church (needs the key from the corpse near the church blockage lever).
2. The bedroom of the house you go through in the Printing House, after climbing the path above the crashed van.
3. The house north of the Fire Department that can only be accessed once you use the crane to move the whale.
Once you have all 3 Plates, take them to the press in the small room that opens when you pick up the key in the Director's Office.
This puzzle can be solved in two different ways.
Solution 1. Turn all squares gold. This rewards you with a shotgun accessory.
Solution 2. Turn all squares silver. This rewards you with 2 Dream Essence, and is the recommended outcome, just to save time on obtaining all Talents later on.
Investigate the alluring song.
For this trophy you must open the safe in Room 301 in Devil's Reef Hotel during Chapter 2. Use code 2137.
Investigate the machine connected to the brains.
To get this trophy you must solve the Brains puzzle in the Wireless Room in the Hospital during Chapter 3. Insert the correct numbers in order and press after each one to validate them. The numbers are 13 > 05 > 36.
Investigate the locked storage.
This trophy is obtained for opening the combination lock in the Storage Room in the Hospital during Chapter 3. The code is 1308.
Investigate the mysterious locker.
Obtained by opening the Buoy in the small room attached to the Fishing Shop in Chapter 4. You can access the room after getting the bolt cutters. Inside, you will have to solve a combination lock puzzle. The code is Lighthouse > Ropes > Starfish > Octopus.
Investigate the sixteen punishments.
Obtained by destroying the crystalized corpse behind the puzzle door in the Cutting Area in Chapter 4. To open it, press down the correct 4 buttons in any order, then press to validate. The buttons that must be pressed are I, IV, IX and XVI.
Listen to every Mushroom Jack broadcast in one playthrough.
Listen to all 10 Radio Codex entries. They are all covered in our Collectibles guide.
Read all the writings that weren't there before.
To get this trophy you must find all 8 NG+ exclusive Lore Codex entries. They only spawn during your second playthrough on Ex Oblivione Mode, and they can all be found at the end of our Collectibles guide.
Unlock every Emergency Relief Crate in one playthrough (excluding DLC).
There are a total of 13 E.R.C., and they all require E.R.C. Activator Pens to open. These are all covered in our Collectibles guide.
Obtain all Talents.
To get this trophy you must unlock every Talent. You do this by spending Dream Essence at the workbench in any Safe Room. You will need a total of 60 Dream Essence, but only 25 can be obtained per playthrough. Because of this, you must play through the game collecting every Dream Essence, then start a second playthrough on Ex Oblivione Mode (NG+), since Talent progress is the only thing that carries over. After that, start a third Ex Oblivione Mode playthrough with that same save and advance until you have enough.
You must also purchase the 4 large Talents from the Extras shop on the main menu, for a total of 800 EP. This shouldn't be a problem, since you will earn more than enough in a single playthrough.
